The Octopus Project - “Wet Gold”

I caught TOP in July @ The Austin Fashion Awards, and I enjoyed the hell out of their performance.  Their music is the kind of hyperkinetic indie-poptronic you can’t help but tap your foot to.  Their vibe is playful & modern, the type of music you’d imagine teenage robots jam out to when nobody is looking.  There was also the added bonus of Joan Cusack-esque doll hair, a la Toys, sported by bandmember Yvonne Lambert, which spawned many enthusiastic hair conversations between myself & my friend Amber both during the show & at the after party.  =)  The set was about 30 minutes long and they played instrument-musical-chairs nearly every song.  It was kinda fun seeing them switch instruments and appreciating the talent level that goes along with that.  Our favorite instrument was so exotic that we had no idea what it was… even going as far to wonder if Yvonne was playing a saw with a violin bow.  *blush*  Nope.  It was a Theremin.  Hey, we were watching from the back, damnit!
